Vikings come up short on the road in Frenchtown
The Vikings got 164 all-purpose yards from Wyatt Johnson and 211 through the air from quarterback Tristen Herd, but it was not enough Friday as they fell to the Broncs in Frenchtown, 32-23.
Frenchtown jumped out to a 13-0 lead after one quarter and Bigfork never recovered, but the Vikings kept up the fight throughout the contest.
Bigfork (3-2) got it down to a one-score game twice, first when Elijah Thorness’ 10-yard pick-6, then with Asher Knopik’s second touchdown of the game, on a 25-yard pass from Tristan Herd.
That cut the gap to 25-23 in the fourth quarter, but Frenchtown was able to hold on.
Herd’s 211 passing yards and additional 53 on the ground led the Vikes, but Herd was also intercepted three times in the loss.
Johnson caught seven passes for 115 yards and added another 49 on the ground while Eli Thorness caught six passes for 77 yards.
The Vikings will be in action again Friday as they celebrate Homecoming with a matchup against Whitefish at 7 p.m.
