Volleyball splits pair of matchups

The Vals volleyball squad earned a win and suffered a loss in their two matches last week, falling at home to Polson Thursday before taking down Browning on the road Saturday.

Bigfork got 16 kills from Ava Davey and 11 from Grace Saari in Browning Saturday as they downed the Lady Indians 25-16, 19-25, 25-21, 25-23.

The Vals had five players record double-digit digs in the win, led by Tessa Troyer’s 23 while Natalie Vick added a pair of blocks.

Setter Piper Linson set up her teammates for 33 assists in the win.

The Vals managed just 13 kills against Polson Thursday as they fell to the Lady Pirates at home, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17.

Davey’s four kills led the Bigfork attack while Vick and Taylor Howlett added two each.

Piper Lee had four blocks in the loss and Howlett added three.

The Vals will be at home Saturday as they celebrate Homecoming against Columbia Falls at 4 p.m.
