Matthew Vitek of Bigfork was sentenced to 100 years in Montana State Prison on Wednesday, Sept. 18 for the deliberate homicide of Tammi Jordan.

Vitek entered a guilty plea at Lake County District Court in Polson in August for felony charges of deliberate homicide and two counts of attempted deliberate homicide after initially pleading not guilty in January. He was also convicted for the deliberate homicide charges Wednesday, each a 100-year sentence.

On Dec. 10, 2023, Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was the first on the scene after reports of shots fired in Ferndale. According to charging documents, Vitek was captured on surveillance footage at Jordan’s residence shooting two others in the chest before shooting Jordan in the head. All three were transported to Logan Health in Kalispell where Jordan was pronounced dead; autopsy reports listed her manner of death as a homicide. Vitek was arrested on the scene.

Jordan ran Little Paws Pet Salon on Cayuse Lane in Ferndale. Many knew and loved her, and a celebration of life was held at the A Bar Montana on Thursday.

“Everybody loved Tammi... everyone who met her loved her, she was a hard person to get in with, but she liked everybody, she just had no bad words for anybody,” friend Heather Kislewski said in an interview with KPAX.
