Bigfork boys post strong relay finishes at Missoula meet
The Bigfork Vikings continued their strong track and field campaign on April 18 at the SSHS Track Meet in Missoula, finishing third in the boys’ team standings and posting a series of personal bests across multiple events.
Junior hurdler Austin Savik led the way with a gold medal finish in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking 15.72 seconds. He added a runner-up performance in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 41.94.
The Viking relay teams turned in strong performances as well. The 4x400-meter relay squad of Quinn Kerr, Savik, Sean Cotman, and Tayden West claimed first place in a blistering 3:35.03, setting a new personal best for the group. In the 4x100 relay, Kerr, West, Savik, and Noah Pandina combined to take third place in 45.23 seconds.
Individually, Kerr also cracked the top 10 in the 100-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 11.73. Senior Cotman took ninth in the 400 meters with a personal-best 54.40. In field events, Treven Hall threw a personal best of 41 feet, 5.5 inches in the shot put to place eighth, and Lance Peterson cleared 10 feet in the pole vault for eighth place.
Bigfork dominated the horizontal jumps. Noah Pandina soared to a season-best 20 feet, 0.5 inches to win the long jump, while Tamret Savik crushed the triple jump with a personal-best mark of 45-5.5, earning first place. Teammate Jack Lucke added a sixth-place finish in the triple with a season-best 39-8.5.
On the girls’ side, Sofie Albiero and Olivia Carlson both turned in top-10 finishes in the sprints. Albiero took sixth in the 100 meters (13.81 PR) and ninth in the 200 meters (28.36), while Carlson finished seventh in the 200 with a personal-best 28.15.
The girls 4x100 relay team of Peyton Benson, Carlson, Albiero, and Lillie Suffia took fifth overall in a season-best 53.81. In the hurdles, Mickie Anderson placed 10th in the 300 hurdles in 56.35.
Field events saw Shannon Woll take sixth in the pole vault with a personal-best 8-00, while Piper Lee finished 10th in the shot put (28-5 PR). Somer Campos jumped a season-best 14-9.5 in the long jump, and Benson added an eighth-place triple jump finish with a personal-best 31-0.75.
