Border Patrol makes arrests in Columbia Falls, Hungry Horse

Nine people were apprehended in the past week by the Border Patrol in Hungry Horse and Columbia Falls, according to posts on the agency’s Facebook page.

According to the posts four people were apprehended near Columbia Falls Jan. 30 and five were apprehended in Hungry Horse Jan. 27.

Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino said four of the men were held at the Flathead County Detention Center. They were transferred out of the jail on Jan. 31, he said.

The four men were identified in jail records as Carlos Daniel Acvedo-Cisneros, 26; Eduardo Hernandez-Olivares, 42; Angel Barrios-Munoz, 45; and David Neri Sandoval-De La Cruz, 34.

Heino directed questions regarding the men, their arrest, and citizenship and immigration status to the federal agency. A spokesperson for the Border Patrol did not answer questions submitted by the Daily Inter Lake by its press deadline.

The Hungry Horse News also tried to contact the agency without success.

A search of various courts in Flathead County turned up only one case linked to the four men. Sandoval-De La Cruz was cited in Flathead County Justice Court for a seatbelt violation, speeding, operating without limited liability insurance, first offense, and resident operating with foreign license and registration in February 2024.

He paid the associated fines later that month, according to court records.

The names of the other five men were not immediately available.
