Mountainfilm on Tour comes to Bigfork

| February 19, 2025 12:00 AM

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is bringing Mountainfilm on Tour to the Flathead with film screenings in both Bigfork and Whitefish this March.

Mountainfilm on Tour brings a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado.

BMWF’s five-city tour will kick off in Bigfork on Friday, March 7 at the Bigfork Center for the Performing Arts, and then head to Whitefish on Friday, March 14 at the O’Shaughnessy Cultural Arts Center. Both evenings will feature the same set of films that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.

BMWF has been hosting Mountainfilm on Tour since 2007 as a fundraiser for their hands-on stewardship projects in the 1.6-million-acre Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. Each summer, BMWF hosts 40+ Volunteer Adventure trips that open trails and restore habitat while providing unique, low-cost opportunities for people to experience one of the most remote Wilderness areas in the lower-48.

“While these films don’t take place in the Bob, they all resonate with our mission of connecting people with wilderness,” said Allison Siems, BMWF’s Operations Director. “Each story shares the common thread of appreciating the power that spending time in these beautiful, wild places can have – something we're lucky enough to witness on our stewardship trips every summer.”

“This tour is a chance to celebrate the wealth of public lands that we’re fortunate to have here in the Flathead, like the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex. And hopefully, get people excited about getting out there and volunteering this summer to give back to the trails they love."

The doors for the events open at 6 p.m. and the films start at 7 p.m. Tickets for Mountainfilm on Tour in Bigfork and Whitefish are on sale now at www.bmwf.org/mountainfilm. Tickets will also be available on the day of the event at the door, if not sold out. The cost for tickets is $20 in advance, and $25 at the door.
