Bigfork Youth Shotgun Team wins big at state

| July 2, 2025 12:00 AM

Bringing home over 40 medals and the first-place club trophy, the Bigfork Grizzly Barrels youth shotgun team traveled to Missoula and Three Forks over the weekend of June 27 to compete in the Montana State Scholastic Clay Target Program.

The Bigfork youth shotgun program for kids ranging in age from 10 to 18 began in 2015. This is the first year for the team to take home the top prize.

The Grizzly Barrels’ 20 competitors fielded entries in all five divisions: Rookie, intermediate entry, intermediate advanced, junior varsity and varsity. Over the two-day event, the participants each shot over 300 combined .12- and .20-gauge shotgun rounds in the three disciplines of trap, skeet and sporting clays.

The youth shotgun program offers local boys and girls access to learn, grow and excel in one of America’s fastest growing high school sports. The kids practice and compete from April to June, with competitions across the state and into Wyoming.

The Bigfork Grizzly Barrels wish to thank their generous local sponsors and MidwayUSA Foundation and encourage anyone who would like to support or join the team to reach out at info@bigforkgunclub.com or to the team Facebook page, Bigfork Grizzly Barrels SCTP.
