Bigfork on a winning streak heading into divisionals
The Vals and Vikes are headed to divisionals this week after a run of straight wins.
The Vals finalized their trouncing of the Northwest region last Tuesday, defeating Whitefish 67-13. Seniors Braeden Gunlock, Keni Wade and Ava Davey were honored for their dedication to the team at the last home game of their high school careers.
The Valkyries will enter the Western A Divisional Tournament as first seed in the Northwest, taking on fourth place in the Southwest Butte Central Thursday, March 6 at 10:30 a.m. at Whitefish High School.
The Vikings won back-to-back play-in matches versus Whitefish and Polson this week to break into the Northwest Divisional Tournament.
In a home match against Whitefish on Thursday, the Vikes made a comeback in the second half, going from a 14-point deficit to winning the game 69-51. Saturday the Vikings travelled to Polson to play the Pirates, defeating them 55-46 to make it into the fourth place slot at divisionals. Austin Savik led the team, scoring over 20 points both games.
The Vikings’ first matchup will be against number one in the Southwest, Dillon, Thursday, March 6 at 8 p.m. in Whitefish.
