The Bigfork tennis teams played Polson on Friday, May 2, in a series of hard-fought matchups, with the boys falling 5-1 and the girls narrowly edged 4-3.

On the boys' side, Andrew Kingery earned Bigfork’s lone win, defeating Polson’s Durai Mahkuk 8-1 at the No. 4 singles position. While Kingery was sharp on the court, the rest of the squad faced a strong showing from the Pirates. Branson Moss (8-2), Marcus Lucas (8-1), and Zayne Newman (8-3) each picked up convincing singles wins for Polson at the top three positions.

In doubles, Bigfork was unable to field teams for the top two slots, resulting in forfeits that ultimately sealed the team loss. The No. 3 doubles match was not played.

The girls' contest was a back-and-forth battle, coming down to the final matches. Cassy Schlict gave Bigfork a dramatic win at No. 1 singles, outlasting Polson’s Summer Newman in a marathon match, 7-6(8), 6-7(6), 6-2. Tatum Holman also earned a straight-set victory at No. 4 singles, defeating Johanna Bieber 6-2, 6-0.

Bigfork was awarded another point by forfeit at No. 1 doubles, but Polson came out on top with four wins. Baylee Lemm and Maddie Lake each won their singles matches in 8-4 decisions, and the duo of Karly Smith and Zoe Schroeder picked up a forfeit win at No. 2 doubles.
