Bigfork athletes earn top finishes at Nelson-Thomas ABC meet
Bigfork High School athletes turned in several standout performances at the Nelson-Thomas ABC track meet on Saturday, May 10, with multiple top-three finishes across sprints, distance, hurdles and field events.
On the boys side, Quinn Kerr sprinted to a third-place finish in the varsity 100-meter dash with a time of 11.64 seconds, just ahead of teammate Robert Merchant, who placed fourth in 11.66. Tayden West added a seventh-place finish in the varsity 200-meter dash (23.66). In the varsity 800 meters, Sean Cotman claimed second overall with a personal-best time of 2:01.24.
In the hurdles, Austin Savik had a big day, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.65) and winning the 300-meter hurdles in a personal-best 39.80. The Bigfork boys also claimed second in the 4x100 relay with the team of Kerr, West, Savik and Merchant clocking a 43.98.
In the field events, Tamret Savik won the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, 6 inches, and placed second in the high jump at 6-0. Teammate Alex Ochs tied for fourth in the high jump at 5-10, while Jack Lucke won the junior varsity high jump (5-6). Lance Peterson cleared 10-6 to take 10th in the varsity pole vault. In the throws, Lincoln Ledingham won the junior varsity shot put with a mark of 41-0.
For the Bigfork girls, Sofie Albiero placed seventh in the varsity 200 meters with a personal-best 27.43. In the varsity shot put, Millie Hall finished fourth overall with a throw of 34-8.25. Aspen Britt took first in the junior varsity girls javelin with a mark of 102-2, while teammate Ava Barrett placed 24th in varsity javelin at 70-5. Esther Kasloskey had a strong jump of 29-3 to take fourth in the junior varsity girls triple jump.
