Bigfork baseball improves to 11-5 overall
The Bigfork Vikings baseball team bounced back from a narrow loss to open the week with dominant performances in their next two games, cruising to a 23-0 win over Browning and a 9-2 victory against Whitefish.
The Vikings now sit at 11-5 on the season following their three-game stretch.
Bigfork opened the week on May 6 with a 5-4 road loss to Noxon/Thompson Falls, despite taking 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Noxon scored three runs in the bottom of the frame and another run in the fifth. Bigfork scored a run in the top of the seventh but couldn’t quite complete the comeback.
Rylen Rodriguez and Grady Campbell split duties on the mound, combining for six innings of work and allowing six hits, five runs (zero earned), while striking out seven and walking three. At the plate, Rodriguez drove in a run, and Sam Plummer finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
The Vikings bounced back in a big way two days later, traveling to Browning and delivering a 23-0 blowout win in just five innings. Bigfork exploded for 10 runs in the second inning to put the game away.
Sam Plummer led the way at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six RBIs, including a home run. Hayden Mayer also homered, doubled, drove in three runs, and scored four times. Cavin Wiest drove in three runs while Holland Jantzen and Wyatt Hickey each batted in two runs.
Browning gave up nine walks and ten stolen bases in the matchup.
Alex Vigil earned the win on the mound, throwing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.
Bigfork wrapped up the week on May 10 with a 9-2 home victory over Whitefish. Mason Lewis turned in a strong performance on the mound, pitching a complete game and allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out two. Lewis also contributed at the plate with a hit, two RBIs, and a run scored.
Hayden Mayer and Cavin Wiest also drove in runs. The Vikings took control with a five-run third inning and tacked on three more in the sixth to seal the win.
Whitefish also committed six errors in the game and walked six.
