Hospital settles with government for $24M
Kalispell Regional Healthcare has reached a settlement with the federal government for $24 million, according to a Department of Justice announcement Friday and an email sent to Kalispell Regional staff from President and CEO Pam Robertson. A man known by dispatch to be “chronically intoxicated,” called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to report around 20 people on Managhan Lane with machinery and guns. Marshall Gingery moved to the Flathead Valley the year the Hungry Horse Dam was completed in 1953 because his father worked for the National Park Service and had just been transferred to Glacier after a stint at Rocky Mountain National Park. He was one of 57 members of the Columbia Falls High School class of 1957, and he said his time in school was marked by the economic slump that followed the conclusion of dam construction.

A man with a set of binoculars watched another man in a Chevy pickup truck sitting in a neighboring driveway. The caller told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that he was messing around with a handgun while a woman sat next to him. The caller said no one seemed to be alarmed. Weapons drawn in campground tantrum
According to a Flathead County Sheriff’s report, a man allegedly stepped into a scuffle between a campground host and a tenant when the host allegedly pulled the tenant off his bike, demanding to know where he got it. Once the host realized the man on the bike was a tenant, he gave the bike back and apologized, but not before each man reportedly pulled a weapon — one a pocketknife and the other a shovel. A passerby allegedly separated the two men and called 911. No one decided to press charges and dispatch advised against going after people with a shovel.

A caller reported that a man allegedly brandished a handgun during a road rage incident on U.S. 2. She said when she tried to pass him, he sped up. The man was described as wearing a bandana and sunglasses and driving a white Ford pickup.

Inability to eat tacos results in teens on the street
Kalispell Police Department received a report that a man, who was purportedly intoxicated, allegedly cast out his 18-year-old niece and 17-year-old son because he was angry the young woman wasn’t able to eat tacos due to her braces. A Marion woman, who fed birds in her neighborhood, was displeased that an outside cat was supposedly “taunting” the flock she had “cultivated.” She was advised by Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that there was no county ordinance regarding cats at large.
