The Second Amendment is the guarantor of all our other rights
While I respect Katheryn Berg’s right to express her opinion on the gun and drug issues, (I’m a veteran and served my country to ensure her right to say whatever the hell she wants), I take issue with her tendency to present her opinions as facts. Heck, I even agree with her statement that “we live in a nation full of hypersensitive, self-absorbed narcissists.” Don’t forget the egomaniacs running the country these days and the spoiled brats being raised with no sense of responsibility for their actions and no self-discipline because they are being raised by parents who don’t discipline their children and teach them that there are consequences for their actions.

Ever heard of the phrase “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander”? Seems a lot of folks in the Flathead (and maybe even more who don’t live here) have jumped on an ideological bandwagon to ban a water-bottling plant near Creston. Not only does Sell say that the plea agreement between his office and Flathead County Commissioner Phil Mitchell has the approval of the Flathead County Parks Department and that it is consistent with Montana law — both true statements but beside the point — but he personally attacks Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry, inferring motives nowhere indicated in the sheriff’s explicit comment about the plea deal: “I thought the state would hold [Mitchell] more accountable for his actions. The public expects transparency, and resolutions in this case may deter the public trust in their officials.”

'The Trump effect' is in the eye of the beholder
As evidenced by “The Trump Effect” op-ed in the April 15 Daily Inter Lake, the hypocrisy of the anti-Trumpers is getting almost too comical to describe. As usual, the Alinsky tactics are on full display, accusing the target with no regard for truth, and most assuredly blaming the target for the same things the writer does. Donald Trump is portrayed as “...the vindictive and impulsive demagogue posing as the 45th president...” Later on, Trump is called “...a man so insecure that he has made as one of his primary objectives the denigration — or total obliteration — of the legacy of his predecessor...”, Trump’s predecessor being Barack Obama. I don’t make the charge of hypocrisy lightly, but if Donald Trump is some kind of demagogue, he doesn’t hold a candle to Barack Obama, hence my use of the term.
